Information for Landlords
At the moment, landlords of tenanted properties in the UK
are not obliged to install a Carbon Monoxide Alarm in
a rented property, even though rented properties with gas
appliances must have periodic inspections by qalified an
registered engineers. However if a tenant were to die or
be severly injured from Carbon Monoxide poisoning, the landlord
could still be subject to civil or criminal prosecution.
Fitting and testing a CO Alarm in a property
can give peace of mind to everyone. The correct type of
detector for your rented property is inexpensive.
In addition to an annual inspection we would recommend that
a landlord has any appliances serviced annually by a qualified
and registered technician.
